Composite Fillings & Bonding: When you need a filling but don't want ugly metal in your tooth, composite or tooth-colored fillings are the best choice. Their most obvious advantage is their natural appearance. Composite fillings can change the appearance of teeth & more conservatively treat teeth - all things that metal fillings cannot.
Composite is bonded to the tooth actually integrating with it, sealing the gap between the tooth & filling, & therefore adding strength. There are many possibilities of resin beyond just regular fillings - like placing thin layers over front teeth to change color, shape, or close space; repairing small chips in teeth; or even sealing the grooves of teeth to prevent decay from ever occurring.
Onlays & Crowns: Covering one or more cusps of a tooth to add strength may also be done to look natural with Porcelain restorations. |
